I've never been to a show as big as this.

Computex 2026 is the first time I’ve really been to a trade show and is fun – really fun, and I recommend you try attending sometime. I met a ton of amazing folks, many of whom I only know online. Meeting them in real life was outstanding and invitations to private parties are always the best. I’ll obviously chatter about all it on the Semi Doped podcast, but today let’s discuss a few technical things.

But first, Computex is a very large show, and impossible for one person to cover all what it has to offer in any reasonable depth. What I’ll discuss here is by no means comprehensive but I’ll provide a stream-of-consciousness download of the show. I hope you get something useful out of it.

I’ll discuss three major areas:

  • Memory

    • The trade

    • HBM4 base die and cooling

    • What would actually break memory

  • Optics

    • Why CPO is still early

    • The demos

    • NPO and pluggables

  • Power

    • 800V and the conversion chain

    • Delta’s system play

    • When it’s real

    • Moving BBUs out of the rack
